Tour I - World War 1

Day 1 - Local departure by coach and ferry to Calais.

Day 2 - Flanders Battlefield Tour. We visit the battlefields around Ypres and visit the trenches at Sanctuary Wood and visit the museum and Tyne Cot Cemetery. In the afternoon we visit Messines Ridge and the Irish Peace Tower. At Ploegsteert the Christmas truce will be studied and we end the day at "Last Post Ceremony" at Ypres. At 8pm each night the Last Post is played.

Day 3 - Today we visit the Somme. We start at the museum at Peronne and visit the largest British mine crater on the Western Front. Later, at Thiepval we visit the memorial and visitor centre and Ulster Tower. The day ends at Serre and see where Wilfred Owen fought.

Day 4 - Depart for home

Below is an outline of some of the typical Battlefield Tours we offer, however, should you wish us to plan a bespoke trip for yourself or organisation we are always happy to meet with you and construct a tour to your requirements. Occasionally, due to circumstances such as bad weather the itinerary may need to be adjusted.

Tour II - World War 2

Day 1 - Local departure by coach and ferry to Calais or Cherbourg

Day 2 - We begin at Pegasus Bridge and Pegasus Museum. We will also visit the 1st house to be liberated in France. Later a visit to the Ranville Cemetery to see the last resting place of the fallen from the invasion. Later in the day, after lunch, we visit Arromanches and the cinema showing archive film. The gun battery at Longues will also be visited.

Day 3 - Today is spent at the battlefields in the south of Normandy. We will visit Merville Battery, Hill 112, Falaise Pocket and Vimoutieres.

Day 4 - Depart for home

Belgium Christmas Tour

Day 1 - Local departure by coach then to a 3-star hotel in Brussels for a three-night stay.

Day 2 - Brussels - During the festive period the centrepiece of Brussels is the local Christmas market, with its decorations, aromas and a large number of stalls where you will find all kinds of traditional gifts, including handmade crafts and Christmas ornaments.

In addition to the Christmas market, the ice-skating rink offers winter wonderland fun for all.A visit to the Grand Place is a must, one of the most beautiful squares in Europe with its Baroque and Gothic style architecture, decorated in festive lights and garlands where you can sit and watch the world go by from a cosy bar in view of the huge Christmas tree which towers above a nearby nativity scene.Explore the quaint backstreets leading off the Grand Place where you will find more inviting eateries. Take a stroll to the Galeries Saint Hubert and walk beneath the glass-roofed arcade full of cafés, shops and theatres. If you’re still feeling hungry, why not head to the Rue des Bouchers – a narrow street filled with seafood restaurants and a great atmosphere.

Day 3 - Bruges - Included excursion to Bruges. Considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, the town boasts a network of canals, crossed with pretty, humpback bridges and winding, cobbled streets leading to picturesque market squares.

Day 4 - To Calais, then return home.
